Hello Healesville!
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news! The former mower shop at the entry of the main street of Healesville will soon begin its transformation as the new Healesville home for Beechworth Honey. A new retail, tasting and educational experience set to open in 2025.
Beechworth Honey co-founders, Steven and Jodie Goldsworthy, themselves fourth generation beekeepers have built Beechworth Honey into an iconic national and international brand from the ground up over the past 30+ years. The company has a family heritage as beekeepers in Beechworth since the 1880’s. This exciting venture marks a significant milestone for the company as it expands its reach and strengthens its commitment to supporting Australian beekeepers and educating the community about the vital role of bees for our food security and ecosystem health.
We are experienced renovators of grand historic buildings in their hometown of Beechworth and are looking forward to sensitively breathing new life into a piece of Healesville’s unique streetscape. We aim to create an experiential retail experience, inviting locals and visitors alike to experience the incredible world of bees and honey.
“Glimpses from old photos from the 1940s when 220 Maroondah Highway was once a showroom for aspirational new cars reveal the historic stature and potential for the building.”
Since opening their flagship store in Beechworth in 2008, we have shared our passion for bees and Australian honey with millions of visitors. Like Beechworth, the heart of the new Healesville store will be focused on education and awareness. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the fascinating work of bees, the importance of bee conservation, beekeeping and of course taste honey.
We are thrilled to be joining the Healesville community. We have a five-generation family heritage in Beechworth and we’re a family-owned and operated business, so we understand the importance of community in a small town like Healesville. We believe our Beechworth Honey store will be a wonderful addition to the town. Our unique educational experiences and premium products are really complimentary to the wonderful produce and offers of the Yarra Valley.
As always, we are committed to supporting Australian beekeepers and are champions for 100% Australian honey. As the Australian honey specialists, we have a huge respect for the work of beekeepers, large and small. We believe Australia needs every single beekeeper to be sustainable into the future to pollinate our gardens, our agricultural produce and to keep us and our planet healthy. Through our understanding of the importance of bees we hope to inspire people to value bees, Australian honey and beekeepers.
The work of Beechworth Honey extends far beyond jars of honey. Our passion for bees is evident in the former ‘Gold Office’ in the historic Bank of NSW in Beechworth which now houses our Bee School, an education focused not for profit part of the business.
We are looking forward to sharing the journey as we transform the old mower shop to allow locals and customers to follow along and see what’s happening as we guide the building works and makeover to come.
