Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey
Leatherwood Honey is light to pale amber in colour and has distinctive and strong floral aromas. To taste, it has a bold flavour with hints of spice and is slightly dry with a long, lingering aftertaste. This is a famous and polarising Australian honey that some love (and others most definitely do not). Leatherwood will crystallise over time with a fine, even crystal.
Botanical Information
Leatherwood (Eucryphia lucida) is tree that generally grows between two and ten metres but can be taller when found in rainforest conditions, growing up to 30 metres in height.
Leatherwood is a prized and sought after honey due to its scarcity and unique flavour.
Geographical Information
Leatherwood is a species endemic only to Tasmania and is found in cool temperate rainforest on the west coast of Tasmania.
