A Family Heritage

Beechworth Honey Willy Robinson

A Labour of Love

Built in the 1920s, the Beekeeper’s Cottage stands as a testament to the Beechworth Honey legacy. William (Willy) Robinson, a Beechworth Honey family beekeeper, constructed the cottage with the financial support of his brother Clive. Despite Willy having a short education, he was a great advocate for bees and beekeepers, becoming the first president of the North Eastern Apiarists Association.

Willy managed his beehives which could often be found behind the shed at the back of the cottage or in various locations in and around Beechworth.

Beechworth Honey Willy & Amy Robinson

Built for Family

Willy lived in the cottage with his wife Amy and their children. Amy created a warm and inviting home, cooking delicious meals and tending to their thriving lavender bees garden.

The Robinson family has many fond memories of the cottage, which despite its small size, feels much bigger due to the happy times spent there. The Robinson’s have a long history in the area, with Benjamin Robinson, Willy and Clive’s father, having built his own house nearby.

Location

Set on the outskirts of Beechworth, just 3.2km from the town centre, it’s a truly stunning location. Pop into town for some retail therapy and then retreat to the cottage for a quiet and relaxing evening.
